About us

Sara Heyen is a cellist, conductor and music educator committed to fostering connection and growth through the arts. A native of Honduras, she graduated from the National School of Music and later went on to earn her degree in Cello Performance from Brigham Young University–Idaho and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Brigham Young University.

Sara is a versatile musician; she is a member of the Rose Quartet and continues to engage actively in the local arts scene as a cellist and orchestral and choral conductor. Sara is also the strings coordinator for the Elementary Strings program for the Lake Oswego School District.

Adam Heyen is a music educator and French hornist with experience in private instruction and classroom music education. He teaches private French horn and trumpet lessons and has worked in elementary general music and beginning band settings since 2022. (If you’re interested in trumpet lessons, please ask!)

A native Oregonian, Adam values a thoughtful, student-centered approach to teaching and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He currently serves as an elementary music specialist and beginning band director in the Hillsboro School District.

Adam earned a Bachelor of Musical Arts from Brigham Young University–Idaho and holds dual master’s degrees in French Horn Performance and Musicology from Arizona State University, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching from Pacific University. He performs with the Willamette River Horn Quartet and is active in the music communities of Tualatin, Salem, and Portland.
